TCB invests in the future of our community by assisting and developing youth-oriented community programs. We are achieving improvements in youth health, education and community involvement through sports, scholarships and other similar endeavors. TCB provides a living example of the brotherhood that friends and families who lose a loved one can achieve through commitment to common charitable activities.

+ The Pat Kepferle Friendship Memorial Scholarship (2010/09)
The Pat Kepferle Friendship Memorial Scholarship is a one-time award of at least $1000 for the first year of college.  The scholarship will be awarded to a Saint Mary’s County, Maryland, high school student who has been accepted by an accredited college or university as a full-time student.  The recipient must demonstrate personal characteristics that reflect Pat’s caring for others, his dedication to his friends, and his determination to overcome all obstacles in order to achieve success in a university environment.  Additionally, individual financial need may be considered.  + 2010 Kepferle Scholarship Form

+ Project Possible (2010/09)
Project Possible is a service-learning project undertaken by Great Mills High School students.  Through Oprah Winfrey’s O Ambassadors and Free the Children programs, these students hope to raise $8,000 to build a school in Latin America and also to address the four goals of the program.  The four goals are education, poverty, sustainable development, and health.  TCB has pledged its support to these students by donating money based on the amount of hours spent volunteering in our local community.

+  Peace Peeps (2010)
Peace Peeps are a team of Leonardtown Elementary School students who participate in Destination Imagination (DI).  DI is a community based, school friendly program where kindergarten through college aged learners take what the know and do well, and then learn to apply it to solve mind-bending challenges.  The Peace Peeps not only won the Regionals, but won the state competition as well.  They are the only team in St. Mary’s County to achieve this success in 28 year history of Maryland DI.

+  Walden/Sierra Trauma Counseling Program (2010)
The Trauma Counseling Program provides professional counseling to children who have experienced abuse or assault, including sexual abuse.  Walden also places a counselor in local schools to work with children identified by teachers or guidance counselors as at-risk.  Walden’s Trauma Counseling program works with partners to include Child Advocacy Center and the Department of Social Services to provide counseling and support to victims of trauma and their (non-offending) family members.  Walden helps victims address the behavioral health and life issues created by abuse and trauma, empowering children and families to healthier, safer lives.

+ Tri-County Warriors Amateur Athletic Union Boys Basketball Club (2009)
Young men selected as part of the Tri-County Warriors will be representing St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Charles County, MD each time they step on the court to play in state and national tournaments.  The club is committed to further developing these young men by particpating in volunteer projects throughout the community and supporting their academic growth.  This club is not just about basketball, but the development of character and life-skills that will open many doors in the future for these young men.  For more information on the Tri-County Warriors, visit their website at www.tricountywarriors.org.

+ Shoe Fund (2008)
A longstanding program that exists through the generosity of school staff, parents, businesses and the community. The Department of Student Services with the St. Mary’s County Public School District provides shoes to school-age children in the public schools who are in need of shoes, but who have limited financial resources.  The fund on average provides 350 pairs of new shoes for children each year.

+ Hunter Dean Scott Foundation (2008)
The Hunter Dean Scott Foundation was established to provide emotional and financial support to the Scott family while their four year old son, Hunter battles brain cancer. Hunter has undergone brain surgery to remove a massive tumor that was encasing his brain. In order to completely eradicate the cancer, Hunter faces months of chemotherapy. Both of Hunter’s parents work full time jobs, but one of them will be with Hunter during all of the medical treatments, thus causing the family a financial blow.

+ Pajama Connection (2008)
A pajama drive for children located at/in the Leah’s House of St. Mary’s County, Angel’s Watch Shelter of Charles County, and foster care. Children receive beach bags filled with pajamas, stuffed animals, children’s books, toothbrush, and toothpaste.

+ Boys and Girls Club (2007)
Boys and Girls Club’s Passport to Manhood and Smart Girls Programs that targets boys and girls ages 8-17. These programs educate and prevent drug and alcohol abuse, premature sexual activity, and self-esteem enhancement helping to reinforce positive behavior and relationships among peers and adults.

+ Walden/Sierra MSAP (2007)
Walden/Sierra’s Maryland Student Assistance Program (MSAP) that provides counseling to children in local schools who have been identified by teachers or guidance counselors as at-risk. The elementary MSAP Counselor holds groups for 6-8 weeks at a time at five St. Mary’s County schools. Topics covered include family violence, self esteem, other family and social issues, and alcohol and drug prevention. The middle and high school MSAP Counselors provide important early intervention to adolescents in need of assistance related to substance abuse, violence and a variety of other problems.

We are looking for other nonprofit youth organizations in good standing that have an impact on community youth through sports, arts, leadership, mentoring or counseling programs. Our organization is continuously assessing our community needs.
